About

Hi there!  I’m Kim.  Welcome to City Hood Home.  I’m a 33 year-old DINK (“dual-income, no kids” in case you weren’t privy to the lingo).  My husband, Nick, and I bought a very dated 1950’s home in the fall of 2013, deep in the heart of Dallas, Texas.  Trying to pinch our pennies, we are doing a lot of the updates ourselves and I will be sharing our mishaps and successes with you along the way.  Since we both work full-time, our home improvement projects take place in the evenings and on the weekends.

What about the city and hood part, you ask?  Well, being a lover of cities, communities, and urban design, I enjoy finding inspiration in the world around me.  In the process of making over our house, Nick and I pull great design ideas from the homes we admire on our evening walks, our dates out on the town, and our travels to far off places.
If you are attempting to DIY your home too, hopefully our successes (and failures) and design inspirations help you in your journey to make your house the perfect home.  If you aren’t currently doing any DIY projects in your home, hopefully my blog will offer inspiration for your to tweak something, add a little flair, or simply show you how a few small changes can really transform a space (both inside and out).  In the process, maybe you will be able to find inspiration in the world around you, too.
If you like what you’ve read and want to stay connected, subscribe by email to receive updates right to your inbox!  You can also follow me on Pinterest and Instagram.  I’m working on a Facebook page and, while I’ve attempted a few times, I’m not much a of Twitter person… but maybe in time, I will be!  If you have any questions, I’d love to hear from you!  You can reach me atcityhoodhome@gmail.com.
Oh, and I will do my very best to proofread my posts, but if you catch and spelling or grammatical errors, please let me know and I’ll fix it right away.  Working full-time, doing home improvement projects, blogging, and training for a marathon (among other things) often has me rushing around, so little errors may slip through the cracks here and there.  Those little grammatical errors are like having spinach stuck in my teeth.  I can be totally oblivious to it, yet I find it super embarrassing and greatly appreciate all of you with savvy grammar eyes who will inform me right away if you catch any “spinach in my teeth”.
